Digipak editing updates
After receiving feedback from my fellow classmates about what would suit/fit our music video. Sekemi focused on this task as Halimat worked on the music video because we were still adding the finishing touches to it. When Sekemi started the digipak, we were going to originally use the following set of pictures but we had to change the options because they didn't line up and didn't have a sense of continuity which we needed.
So instead of using the following pictures we changed our minds:

Final Digipak Post
This is the front cover for our digipak, we thought about this idea when we were at the woods filming the last few scenes left to add into our music video. The background used challenges the convention of an R&B digipak. Sekemi used Photoshop to darken the front cover but after the feedback we got from our class mates we decided to brighten the picture just a little bit but not to make it as dark as it was before.
The inside front cover also challenges the convention of an R&B album digipak because we used the female in the music video on the inside cover.
The whole digipak is centred around a leafy themed background, we also put all the conventions and generic conventions of an R&B digipak. Our digipak is very simple and uncomplicated and feature the tracklist, copyright information, record label and bar code.

Brand Identity
Brand Identity-'How a business wants a brand's name, communication style, logo and other visual elements to be perceived by consumers. The components of the brand are created by the business itself, making brand identity the way in which a business wants consumers to perceive its brands, not necessarily how it is actually perceived.'
Jessie J's album and magazine relate because she used the same font, size and logo to show brand identity. The picture used is also consistent and the colour scheme was also used (black, white and gold).
The album name and name of the artist is the same on both the digipak and the magazine advert.

Filming Update #5
It is half term and the cast is in London apart from Jess who had to do a bit of work experience abroad so we couldn't film any scenes but we took advantage of the fact that it was a nice day so went out to Hyde Park to film some scenes and it was also very successful because a bulk of our video has come from here.

Feedback session
On Friday 17th October our class had a feedback session and our teacher made us watch our other classmates video; our video was judged buy a group of four boys and they collectively evaluated our work. Our work was marked through a mark scheme which ranges from level 1 being the lowest - level 5 being the highest; it was categorised using the following table:
Apart from the table we were also given good feedback:
Good points:
1. Good use of transitions
2. A story line which makes sense
3. Smooth transitions which fits in with the theme effectively
4. The slow motion effect which was put in was highly effective and impacted the video positively but we hinted that we shouldn't over use it so that it still has the appropriate effect.
Areas to improve:
1. There are bins visible in the filming and to fix this we will be re-shooting those specific scenes.
2. Uneven camera shots were also mentioned and to fix this we will be making sure that our tripods and framing is straight.
3. The use of the same location, to fix this we will definitely be changing our location and film in Lincoln City and London.
4. There was visible red eye in our male actors eyes.
5. Our cast members kept on looking into the camera so it was obvious that we were filming and didn't have the everyday life we were looking to have.
6. More use of props.

Editing feedback 10th October 2014
Today we received feedback from our A2 classmates about our editing so far; the feedback which we received was very helpful and was both good and bad.
We were told that our shots and camera angles had very little variation and they should be switched up, location change which we had already planned to do because filming isn't complete, wonky shots so next time we film we will make sure that our framing is tight, we obviously need more footage.
We were also advised to match our heavy beats with special effects to make them seem more apparent .
We also received good feedback about how we casted our roles very well because the characters fit in well with the theme, our actors lip movement has been well placed which gave way to good lip syncing, they also said that isolation which we had included fit in well with the romantic theme which the song has.

Filming Updates #3
We were originally meant to film on Wednesday but the boys played football last period and were quite tired, so we rescheduled for Friday but that wasn’t possible as well, we later decided that we would attempt Sunday but football was on and the boys we choose were supporters of the football team.
We had decided on today 2nd period but the weather was particularly bad today so after school we decided to do some personal scenes with Tosin when we zoom into his eyes and also when he mouths a few words during the intro.

Filming Update #2
We filmed the bedroom scenes today; we did them in the boarding house we didn’t do it on Saturday along with other scenes because the head of the boarding house said it would be advisable to do it when there were less students in the boarding house so we did it during 2nd period. We only needed like an hour because the bedroom scene consisted of only Tosin and Ore being affectionate towards each other.

Filming Updates #1
We have filmed nearly half of the necessary scenes, we used about 5 hours and we made sure that the entire cast was there except Jessica because she went to London for the weekend so we weren’t able to film her scenes.
But we filmed Ore and Tosin’s scenes (at least some of them), we also filmed some of the scenes with Lloyd and Ore but we may have to do it again because there are some distractions in the shots for example dustbins on the field.

Andrew Goodwin
Andrew Goodwin identifies five key aspects of music videos that we the audience should look out for which are:
Thought beats.
Narrative and Performance.
The star image.
Relations of visuals to song.
Technical aspects of music video.

Todorov's Theory
Todorov came up with a theory that most narrative storylines include similar conventions, his theory argued that many storylines had 5 common conventions and that many story’s follow these conventions. These 5 conventions are:
- There is an equilibrium
- Some sort of problem disrupts this equilibrium
- The characters realise that there is a disruption of equilibrium
- They attempt to fix the problem
- Returns to equilibrium or new equilibrium
Chosen Song
'Adorn' Miguel
"Adorn"
"Adorn"
These lips can't wait to taste your skin, baby, no, no
And these eyes, yeah, can't wait to see your grin, ooh ooh baby
Just let my love
Just let my love adorn you
Please baby, yeah
You gotta know
You gotta know
You know that I adore you
Yeah baby
Baby these fists will always protect ya, lady
And this mind, oh, will never neglect you, yeah, baby, oh, baby
And if they try to break us down don't let that affect us, no, baby
You just gotta let my love
Let my love
Let my love adorn you
Ah, le-le-le-let it dress you down
You got to know
You gotta know
Know that I adore you
Just that babe
I... oh oh
Let my love adorn you baby
Don't you ever
Don't you let nobody tell you different baby
I'll always adore you
You gotta know know
You got to know know know
Now yeah
Ooh, yeah
The same way that the stars adorn the skies yeah (every night baby)
Oh, look up suga (every night baby)
Now, hey, hey, hey
The same way that my whole world's in your eyes (in your eyes baby)
Ooh, and this time now (and this time baby)
Just let
Let my love adorn you baby, hey
Le-le-le-let it dress you down
You gotta know, baby
Oh, you gotta know
Know that I adore you
Oh, love aint never looked so good on ya
Ooh, put it on baby

We chose to do this song because we both really like this song a lot and know it means a lot. R&B is one of our favourite genres. The lyrics give visual meanings and thoughts and the way we could film our music video. However, the song already has a music video but we are making better and more creative video for the song to make it more interesting and not to make the audience get bored of watching; I personally think the original video is quite boring so that is another reason why we are making our music video more interesting. Finally, we have decided that this song is going to be great for our music video because it is just 2:34 and it wont be too long or too short its just right.

Target Audience Member Profile

Name: Anjola
Age: 18
Class: Middle
Occupation: Student.
We chose Anjola as our member profile because she is a part of our target audience age and would classify, and it would be amazing to get her thoughts on what she would like to see in our music video, early ideas and our song choice. We asked the following questions:
Who is your favourite artist and why?
Artist: Drake and Alicia Keys.
Why: She said she likes their style and sound. She likes Drake because he is diverse; sings and raps and the way he is relatable is some aspects of her life.
Do you like R&B songs/videos and why?
Yes
Song/Video: Alicia Keys 'Girl On Fire'.
What do you like/hate the most about R&B music videos?
Best: Drake 'Hold On We Are Going Home' she likes the narrative aspect of the video because the song is bit boring and it beats around the bush.
Worst: Maxwell 'Pretty Wings'; she doesn't like the concept because it is about exorcism.

Introduction to Group
Introduction to group
My A2 media group consist of just me and one other person and this is because I think that once a group has surpassed two people complications begin. It it will help in the future because in the past I have been in groups of four and there have been arguments and conflict this way it'll be less likely. My fellow group member Sekemi Olunloyo and I also share similar tastes and ideas in music.

Early Ideas
Early ideas
At this stage we went through a bit of trial and error with our song mainly because we were primarily looking for a video which didn't have a video yet and fit our genre well. Our genre tends to do music videos a lot so it was quite challenging. At first we chose John Legend's 'All of me' but the song recently just became very popular and has music video so we scratched that idea completely. After we sat down and listened to songs and finally came up with this.
We then came across Miguel's 'Adorn' and everything was perfect from the length of the song to the invisible concept for the video and another bonus was tat it didn't already have a video. Miguel himself is not a well known artist so people wont be able to say that they've heard the song before and have their own personal idea for it.
The shots will be varied along with various locations because the members of my group and the people included will be going on holiday to Nigeria and Ghana respectively and that will be ideal for beach and tropical scenes.
