Todorov's Theory

Todorov came up with a theory that most narrative storylines include similar conventions, his theory argued that many storylines had 5 common conventions and that many story’s follow these conventions. These 5 conventions are:

• There is an equilibrium
• Some sort of problem disrupts this equilibrium
• The characters realise that there is a disruption of equilibrium
• They attempt to fix the problem
• Returns to equilibrium or new equilibrium

 We chose to do this song because we both really like this song a lot and know it means a lot. R&B is one of our favourite genres. The lyrics give visual meanings and thoughts and the way we could film our music video. However, the song already has a music video but we are making better and more creative video for the song to make it more interesting and not to make the audience get bored of watching; I personally think the original video is quite boring so that is another reason why we are making our music video more interesting. Finally, we have decided that this song is going to be great for our music video because it is just 2:34 and it wont be too long or too short its just right.

Who is your favourite artist and why?
Artist: Drake and Alicia Keys.
Why:  She said she likes their style and sound. She likes Drake because he is diverse; sings and raps and the way he is relatable is some aspects of her life.

Do you like R&B songs/videos and why?
Yes
Song/Video: Alicia Keys 'Girl On Fire'.

What do you like/hate the most about R&B music videos?
Best: Drake 'Hold On We Are Going Home' she likes the narrative aspect of the video because the song is bit boring and it beats around the bush.

Worst: Maxwell 'Pretty Wings'; she doesn't like the concept because it is about exorcism.
